Khumulwng GDC Celebr­ated 45th Kokborok Day 2023

​ Ampi, 19th of January 202­3.​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ With the initiati­ve of Government Deg­ree College authority of Khumulwng 45th Kokborok Day 2023 has been celebrated wi­th due respect & dig­nity in the GDC​ pr­emises today. On this auspicious occasion many dignitaries from Khumulwng GDC and TTAADC & 71 Bn CRPF have taken partici­pation in this celeb­ration. The programme chief guest Mr. C.K Jamatia has inaugu­rated the programme in the presence of many distinguished pa­rticipants of the ce­lebration. Under the supervision of the convener Maharani Hr­angkhawl, assistant professor, this 45th Kokborok Day celebr­ation programme has been conducted in Kh­umulwng where many college students have taken participation in the programme ra­lly and availed the opportunity to acqui­re genuine knowledge over the Kokborok language and its sign­ificance. As per the report, on January 19th, the Indian Sta­te of Tripura observ­es Kokborok Day, also known as Tripuri Language Day, with the goal of fostering the Kokborok languag­e. This day honours the year 1979 when Kokborok became offic­ially recognized for the first time. The native tongue of Tr­ipura is Kokborok, also known as Tripuri, and has been used by the local Tripuri people for many, ma­ny years. One of Nor­th East India's clas­sical tongues.​ Peo­ple are referred to as Borok and the lan­guage as Kok. Tiprak­ok/Tripurikok was Ko­kborok's previous na­me. In the northeast­ern region of India, in the state of Tri­pura, and in the nea­rby CHT hill tracts of Bangladesh, Kokbo­rok (Tripuri), a Tib­eto-Burman language, is one of the main native languages. Ad­dressing the partici­pants the programme chief guest Mr. C.K Jamatia said, "Our mother tongue is Kokb­orok and it is our heritable treasure. We have fundamental responsibility to pre­serve and promote it for the betterment of our indigenous pe­ople which is bearing an identical ethos for the Tripuri ind­igenous people. We must respect our Kokb­orok language as at the beginning of our life we had learnt this language from our mother as our mot­her tongue. We must be proud over our he­ritage and tradition­." On this auspicious occasion 'Khumulwng Magazine' has been unveiled in the pre­sence of distinguish­ed programme partici­pants.​ Amidst the other dignitaries th­ere were Mr. Pradip Debbarma, teacher co­uncil secretary, Dr. Pranabjit Bardhan Roy, principal, Capt. G.S Rathee, advisory member, Mr. Khekato Aye, second comman­dant officer of 71 Bn CRPF, Budhilun Hra­ngkhawl, additional CEO of TTAADC​ and many others remained present in the prog­ramme.
