The Asian Development Bank (ADB) mission is actively advancing the Tripura Urban and Tourism Development Project (TUTDP) by reviewing critical water supply infrastructure works in 12 towns across Tripura. The mission, running from February 27 to March 7, 2025, sees ADB experts from both lndia and the Manila office collaborating closely with local official teams. As per the report, eight ADB delegates from the Manila and Indian resident teams are on the ground in Udaipur. They have visited the proposed intake, water treatment plant site, and an overhead reservoir location, in addition to inspecting areas affected by the 2024 floods. The team expres ses satisfaction with the high standards of project quality, implement action practices, and the overall progress achieved in Udaipur. Under the TUTDP initiative, Udaipur is set to receive a state-of-the-art 7.6 million litres per day water treatment plant, a key facility expected to resolve the town's longstanding water scarcity issues. ADB Project Coordinator and Chief Planner, TUDA, Er. Mihir Kanti Gop, expressed his enthusiasm about the project's progress. He noted that the expert guidance provided by the ADB team is significantly enhancing the implementation process and laying the foundation for a secure water future for Tripura. He also emphasized his appreciation for the unwavering support and expertise of his ADB colleagues, whi ch is essential to transforming the region's water infrastructure and improving the lives of its citizens. A memorable milestone for the project was reached last year on September 20, 2024, when the foundation stone for the ADB funded water supply works in 12 towns was laid in Udaipur by Honorable Chief Minister of Tripura Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha. That moment marked the beginning of a journey toward a more resilient and vibrant future for the state.
