Tripuraprottoy Correspondent, Dharmanagar: A tragic incident of child abuse took place in Dharmanagar, North Tripura. After filing a case of abuse of a minor girl at Dharmanagar Women's Police Station, the police have arrested the accused. The accused's name is Santosh Sharma. He is a resident of Algapur Baurakandi area of Dharmanagar. According to the details of the incident, about two to three months ago, accused Santosh Sharma brutally abused an 11-year-old minor girl by showing various temptations. After this incident, he kept the minor quiet by intimidating her. The child did not tell anyone about the incident until now due to fear and shame. However, yesterday, i.e. Saturday afternoon, the minor told one of her friends about the incident under the pretext of playing. Later, when the friend told her mother, the friend's mother quickly contacted the minor's mother. Hearing the incident from her daughter, the minor's mother broke down in tears. Neighbors arrived at the scene due to the sound of crying. Later, local public representatives also came to know about the incident and advised to seek legal help. Finally, the minor's mother filed a written complaint with the Dharmanagar Women's Police Station detailing the incident. Immediately after receiving the complaint, the police started an investigation. Based on the investigation, a case was registered against the accused Santosh Sharma under the POCSO Act and he was arrested. In this regard, Shipra Das, Officer-in-Charge of the Dharmanagar Women's Police Station, said that a case has been registered against the accused Santosh Sharma under the POCSO Act and he has been arrested and will be produced in court following due legal process. At the same time, the victim minor has been sent for necessary treatment and medical examination. This incident has created a huge sensation in the area.
