Tripuraprottoy Correspondent, Dharmanagar: A tragic road accident took place in the area adjacent to Krishnapur petrol pump on Panisagar Road, Dharmanagar. Around Monday noon, a Bolero car bearing the number TR-05C-1884 hit the back of a truck bearing the number AS-01CC-0501 standing in front of the petrol pump. The front part of the car was completely twisted in the impact of the accident. Local people quickly rushed to the rescue of the passengers of the car. However, eyewitnesses said that the driver of the Bolero car fled the area immediately after the accident. The passenger in the car, Suman Debnath (26), a resident of Charubasa, was rescued in a serious condition. While rescuing him, the hand of a local youth, Alok Debnath (24), was cut. On receiving the information, the fire department personnel quickly reached the spot and rescued the two injured youths and took them to Dharmanagar District Hospital. Both of them are currently undergoing treatment. Doctors said that Suman Debnath's left leg was broken and he suffered a serious head injury. On the other hand, Alok Debnath was given first aid for the wound on his hand. Meanwhile, the police have started an investigation to find out the cause of the accident. However, it is initially suspected that the accident occurred due to reckless speeding.
