Tripuraprottoy Correspondent, Dharmanagar: The 7th North Tripura District Level Thang-Ta Competition 2025 was held in North Tripura district with the aim of making the traditional martial art game of Thang-Ta more popular and widespread among the youth. The competition was organized by the North District Thang-Ta Association under the All Tripura Thang-Ta Association. The competition was held at the Vivekananda townhall Building in Dharmanagar. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Mitali Das Sen, Chairperson of Dharmanagar Municipal Council, as the chief guest. The special guest was Omprakash Kalwar, Joint Secretary of All Tripura Thang-Ta Association. Sajal Malakar, President of North District Thang-Ta Association and other dignitaries. A total of 110 competitors from different parts of the district including Dharmanagar and Kanchanpur participated in the competition. The contestants participated in different age-based categories and showcased their extraordinary sportsmanship. The atmosphere was enlivened by the presence of guests, sports officials, coaches and sports-loving spectators. The competition was organized in support of the Fit India Movement, Khelo India, and the Indian Olympic Association. The organizers aimed to inspire the youth towards a healthy, disciplined and drug-free life and to promote the traditional Thang-ta of the state. The organizers said that the winners of the district level will participate in the state level Thang-ta competition and from there, the winners will represent the state in the 31st National Thang-ta competition to be held in Goa in October. The organizers are hopeful that the event will play an important role in promoting a healthy lifestyle among the youth.
