Two-Day Long Workshop & Training Ended Successfully

Amarpur, 3rd of January 2026. The valedictory session of the Two-Day long Workshop & Training programme over promoting gender equity, preventing sexual harassment and advancing women's rights under the PM-USHA scheme has been accomplished today successfully. As per the report, the programme was organized by the Department of History, Government Degree College, Khumulwng. The programme was presided over by Dr. Bhupendra Debbarma, Principal-in-Charge of the college. Mr. Pradip Debbarma, Assistant Professor and programme coordinator has constituted the workshop and training event with essential constitutional issues. He has briefed the participants on the objectives of the workshop. This was followed by the keynote address delivered by Mr. Prasenjit Debbarma, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Government Degree College, Khumulwng. In his address, he elaborated on issues related to gender equity, prevention of sexual harassment, and the importance of legal awareness. The session further included an insightful lecture by Dr. Subrata Debbarma, Assistant Professor, Department of IT, and Nodal Officer of PM-USHA, Government Degree College, Khumulwng, Tripura West. He explained the objectives and framework of the PM-USHA scheme and highlighted the importance of organising such programmes in the college. He also discussed gender-related challenges and the role of educational institutions in ensuring a safe and inclusive environment. The Chief Guest, Dr. Surath Debbarma, Principal Officer, Department of Kokborok and Other Languages, TTAADC, Khumulwng, delivered a special address. He highlighted women's rights, legal safeguards, and the role of law enforcement agencies in protecting dignity and ensuring justice. In his presidential address, Dr. Bhupendra Debbarma emphasised the importance of creating an inclusive, safe, and respectful academic environment. He stated that educational institutions play a vital role in shaping values, attitudes, and responsible citizenship. He stressed that gender equity and the prevention of sexual harassment are not merely legal obligations but moral responsibilities of every individual. He further urged students and faculty members to remain aware of their rights and duties, promote mutual respect, and actively contribute to building a culture of dignity, equality, and zero tolerance towards discrimination and harassment. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Smt. Tapati Bhattacharya, Joint Secretary, Teachers' Council, Government Degree College, Khumulwng.
