Staff Reporter, Dharmanagar: The widely discussed case involving delivery boy Prasenjit Sarkar has taken another significant turn. On Wednesday, the District and Sessions Judge’s Court of North Tripura rejected the bail applications of the five main accused in the case. This marks the ninth consecutive time that their bail pleas have been dismissed by the court. According to court sources, although the accused parties have repeatedly filed bail petitions, the court has not found them acceptable. During the hearing, senior advocate Debdas Bakshi informed the court that the next hearing in the Prasenjit Sarkar case would largely depend on the investigation report submitted by the Investigating Officer. He stated that the investigation has made progress and that the report provides no reasonable grounds for granting bail.During the proceedings at the Dharmanagar court, advocate Debdas Bakshi further requested that the trial of the five accused be conducted while they remain in judicial custody, so that the investigation and trial process can proceed smoothly and without any possibility of influencing evidence or witnesses. After hearing arguments from all sides, the court once again rejected the bail applications and fixed the next date of hearing for the 17th.It may be noted that the Prasenjit Sarkar incident had created widespread sensation across North Tripura district. With repeated rejections of bail applications, legal experts believe that the court is viewing this case with utmost seriousness.
